El Campo's current expansion is set to total 120 acres in the Sierra Nevada foothills with half planted in April 2008.

The 2008 Planting season was the beginning of El Campo's proposed expansion. With this initial 45 acre installation, El Campo looks to bring family-owned olive growing to the Madera County area.
The HDP meathod of planting utilized by El Campo Olive Ranch makes the planting process a quick and efficient task without the use of large equipment. They are planted in a trellised like grape vineyard, farmed like wine grapes and harvested with mechanical grape harvesters. As seen in the videos below, the planting process involves only about 25 seconds per plant with the plant being placed about half way between the pot and the bud.

The Production Process

Rather than the manual process of picking olives by hand,
high density olive orchards are picked mechanically using
a modified grape harvister.

The Planting Process

The Olive Tree is planted at a depth 1/2 way between the pot and the bud. The average time per tree is 25 seconds.
